Highly refractive thin glasses

A layer composite comprising:

• at least one semiconductor layer;
• and
• a thin glass having a refractive index of higher than 1.60, the thin glass comprising the following components in % by weight:

• 2
• 15
• Nb2O5
• 0
• 7
• La2O3
• 0
• 18
• ZnO
• 0
• 9
• Al2O3 + SrO
• 0
• <2 and
• a ratio by weight of BaO to TiO2 that is at least 1.5, wherein the thin glass has a thickness of lower than 2 mm and comprises at least one fire-polished surface having a root-mean-squared roughness of at most 5 nanometers, and wherein the amount of PbO in the thin glass is lower than 1000 ppm.

A method for the production of a thin glass having a refractive index of higher than 1.60, comprising the steps of:

• melting of a glass mixture to form a glass melt or a glass obtained from the glass melt, the glass mixture comprising the following components in % by weight:

• To
• SiO2
• 15
• 37.5
• BaO
• 15
• 40
• TiO2
• 2
• 15
• Nb2O5
• 0
• 7
• La2O3
• >5
• 18
• ZnO
• 0
• 9
• Al2O3 + SrO
• 0
• <2 and
• processing the glass melt or the glass obtained from the glass melt into the thin glass, wherein the thin glass has a thickness of lower than 2 mm and comprises at least one fire-polished surface having a root-mean-squared roughness of at most 5 nanometers, and wherein the amount of PbO in the thin glass is lower than 1000 ppm.
