Abstract
The present disclosure provides a training method for operating a training system including a pedal-crank input unit drivingly connected in freewheeling relationship to a flywheel machine with inertial load of at least (0.5) kg·m2, an ergometer to determine power, a processor, a profile module, and a session management module, wherein the processor determines a minimum acceptable threshold value of maximum power output for a maximum power period, duration of the maximum power period, and increments the minimum acceptable threshold value of maximum power output for a next maximum power period where the minimum acceptable threshold value of maximum power output for a maximum power period is met.
Claims23
A training method for operating a training system including a pedal-crank input unit in a training event, the pedal-crank input unit drivingly connected in freewheeling relationship to a flywheel machine for outputting power to accelerate a flywheel machine inertial load of at least (0.5) kg·m2, the training system including an ergometer system operable to determine instantaneous power output of the pedal-crank input unit for accelerating the flywheel machine inertial load, the training system including a processor in communication with a display unit, said method comprising:
- associating, by the processor, for the training event, a reference machine operation profile record for one of the pedal-crank input unit and the flywheel machine, said reference machine operation profile record including a reference record of power output information from operation of one of a reference pedal-crank input unit and reference flywheel machine;
- determining, by the processor, from said reference machine operation profile record, an instantaneous maximum power output;
- establishing, by the processor, a minimum acceptable threshold value of maximum power output in relation to the instantaneous maximum power output;
- determining, by the processor, a maximum power output period duration in relation to the instantaneous maximum power output;
- measuring, by said ergometer system, instantaneous power output over time during the duration of the maximum power period, of one of said pedal-crank input unit and said flywheel machine;
- issuing, by the processor, a maximum power prompt in relation to initiating a maximum power period;
- and
- issuing, by the processor, a resting period prompt in relation to initiating a resting period.
A training system for operation in a training event, said training system comprising:
- a pedal-crank input unit drivingly connected in freewheeling relationship to a flywheel machine for outputting power to accelerate a flywheel machine inertial load of at least (0.5) kg·m2;
- an ergometer system operable to determine instantaneous power output of the pedal-crank input unit when accelerating the flywheel inertial load;
- a display unit having an interface;
- a processor in communication with said display unit;
- a profile module, executable by the processor;
- a training session management module, executable by the processor;
- at least one of said profile module and said training session management module configured to:
- associate, by the processor, for the training event, a reference machine operation profile record for one of the pedal-crank input unit and the flywheel machine, said reference machine operation profile record including a reference record of power output information from operation of one of a reference pedal-crank input unit and reference flywheel machine;
- determine, by the processor, from said reference machine operation profile record, an instantaneous maximum power output;
- establish, by the processor, a minimum acceptable threshold value of maximum power output in relation to the instantaneous maximum power output;
- determine, by the processor, a maximum power output period duration in relation to the instantaneous maximum power output;
- issue, by the processor, a maximum power prompt in relation to initiating a maximum power period;
- issue, by the processor, a resting period prompt in relation to initiating a resting period;
- and
- said ergometer system configured to measure instantaneous power output over time during the duration of the maximum power period, of one of said pedal-crank input unit and said flywheel machine.
