Abstract
A tracheal tube assembly includes an outer cannula configured to be positioned in a patient airway and an inner cannula configured to be disposed inside the outer cannula. The tracheal tube assembly further includes a flange member secured about the outer cannula, and an outer cannula connector coupled to a proximal end of the outer cannula. The outer cannula connector includes a compressible portion may be compressed while inserting or removing the inner cannula.
Claims20
A tracheal tube, comprising:
- an outer cannula connector disposed on an outer cannula proximal end and comprising a coupling member and a deformable member coupled to at least a portion of the coupling member, wherein an outer circumference of the deformable member is greater than an outer circumference of the coupling member such that the deformable member forms a shelf that couples the deformable member to the coupling member, and wherein compression of the deformable member changes a first dimension of the deformable member to a second dimension that is greater than the first dimension in at least one direction;
- and
- an inner cannula connector disposed on an inner cannula proximal end, wherein the inner cannula connector is disposed within the outer cannula connector and configured to couple the inner cannula to the outer cannula.
A tracheal tube outer cannula, comprising:
- a conduit configured to receive an inner cannula;
- an outer cannula connector disposed on a proximal end of the conduit and configured to couple to the inner cannula to secure the inner cannula within the conduit, wherein the outer cannula connector comprises a rigid portion positioned at a proximal region of the outer cannula connector and a deformable portion positioned at a distal portion of the outer cannula connector, wherein at least a portion of the deformable portion extends radially away from an exterior surface of the rigid portion, wherein the deformable portion is configured to be deformed when compressed along a first axis such that a first dimension of the deformable portion along the first axis decreases and a second dimension of the deformable portion along a second axis increases relative to an uncompressed configuration.
A tracheal tube, comprising:
- an outer cannula having a proximal end and a distal end;
- an outer cannula connector coupled to a proximal end of the outer cannula and having a deformable member disposed on a distal portion of the outer cannula connector and a proximal coupler disposed on a proximal portion of the outer cannula connector and extending away from the deformable member, wherein an outer circumference of the proximal coupler is sized to fit within an inner circumference of the deformable member, wherein the deformable member comprises an annular ring configured to be compressed such that a first diameter of the deformable member changes to a second diameter larger than the first diameter in at least one dimension;
- an inner cannula configured to be disposed inside the outer cannula;
- and
- an inner cannula connector coupled to a proximal end of the inner cannula and configured to be disposed in the outer cannula connector.
