Cardiac support device delivery tool with release mechanism

A cardiac treatment system, comprising:

• a delivery system comprising:
• an elongate body;
• a plurality of elongate support members configured to extend along the elongate body and to extend in a distal direction from the elongate body, each elongate support member being individually extendable and retractable with respect to the elongate body and comprising a distal end for attachment to an implantable cardiac device, each elongate support member including a respective release element that is movable in relation to its corresponding elongate support member;
• multiple protrusions for engaging the implantable cardiac device extending from each release element, wherein the multiple protrusions longitudinally extend along the distal direction;
• and
• a control mechanism configured to distally extend and proximally retract the plurality of elongate members relative to the elongate body;
• and
• the implantable cardiac device releasably mounted to the delivery system, the implantable cardiac device comprising:
• a mesh implant body configured for implantation around external portions of a heart and comprising a leading end portion defining an open leading end configured to advance over an apex of the heart, the leading end portion detachably attached to the elongate support members using the multiple protrusions of the release elements.
