Abstract
Disclosed herein are embodiments of materials having high thermal conductivity along with a high dielectric constants. In some embodiments, a two phase composite ceramic material can be formed having a contiguous aluminum oxide phase with a secondary phase embedded within the continuous phase. Example secondary phases include calcium titanate, strontium titanate, or titanium dioxide.

A multi-phase composite ceramic material, the material comprising:
- a primary phase of aluminum oxide;
- a first secondary phase of CaTiO3 located within the primary phase;
- and
- a second secondary phase of LaAlO3 located within the primary phase, the first secondary phase and the second secondary phase forming a multi-phase composite, the multi-phase composite having a dielectric constant of greater than 20 and a thermal conductivity of greater than 20 W·m−1·K−1.
A multi-phase composite ceramic material, the material comprising:
- an aluminum oxide phase;
- a first secondary phase of CaTiO3 located within the aluminum oxide phase;
- and
- a second secondary phase of La2MgTiO6 located within the aluminum oxide phase forming a multi-phase composite, the multi-phase composite having a dielectric constant of greater than 20 and a thermal conductivity of greater than 30 W·m−1·K−1.
A multi-phase composite ceramic material comprising at a generally contiguous primary phase of aluminum oxide and a plurality of secondary phases, a first of the plurality of secondary phases being CaTiO3 and a second of the plurality of secondary phases being selected from the group consisting of LaAlO3, La2MgTiO6, YAlO3, SmAlO3, Mg4Nb2O9, and La4Ti3O12, the plurality of secondary phases embedded within the primary phase to form a multi-phase composite ceramic material having a dielectric constant of greater than 20.
