Motion video output for multiple displays

An image data processing system comprising:

• an image sensor configured to convert light incident on the image sensor into digital image data;
• a camera housing containing the image sensor;
• one or more processors configured to:
• encode, using an encoding function, a stream of digital motion picture image data derived from the digital image data to obtain an encoded stream,
• generate a first monitoring data stream from the encoded stream by linearizing the encoded stream using a first decoding function, the first monitoring data stream comprising first image data, the first decoding function being an inverse of the encoding function, and
• generate a second monitoring data stream from the encoded stream by linearizing the encoded stream using a second decoding function different from the first decoding function, the second monitoring data stream comprising second image data having a narrower brightness range than the first image data, the second monitoring data stream being generated in parallel with the first monitoring data stream;
• a first video output port in communication with the one or more processors, the first video output port being configured to output the first monitoring data stream for display;
• and
• a second video output port in communication with the one or more processors, the second video output port being configured to output the second monitoring data stream for display in parallel with the first video output port outputting the first monitoring data stream,
• wherein the one or more processors is supported by the camera housing or another housing that is releasably attachable to the camera housing, the first video output port being supported by the camera housing or the another housing, the second video output port being supported by the camera housing or the another housing, and
• wherein the one or more processors is configured to generate the first monitoring data stream and the second monitoring data stream while the image sensor generates the digital image data.
