Abstract
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A source device of a wireless local area network (WLAN) may identify one or more attributes of a first wireless link and a second wireless link between the source device and a sink device of the WLAN. The one or more attributes may be compared with a source device connection policy associated with a streaming protocol. The source device may determine whether to establish a streaming session with the sink device over the first wireless link or the second wireless link based at least in part on the comparing.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:
- a processor;
- memory in electronic communication with the processor;
- and
- instructions stored in the memory and operable, when executed by the processor, to cause the apparatus to:
- identify, at a source device of a wireless local area network (WLAN), a plurality of attributes of a first wireless link between the source device and a sink device of the WLAN and a plurality of attributes of a second wireless link between the source device and the sink device;
- transmit, from the source device, a source device connection policy including a preferred connection for at least the second wireless link;
- compare the plurality of attributes of the first wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with a streaming protocol and the plurality of attributes of the second wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with the streaming protocol;
- and
- determine, at the source device, whether to establish a streaming session with the sink device over the first wireless link or the second wireless link based at least in part on the comparing.
An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:
- a link monitor circuit for identifying, at a source device of a wireless local area network (WLAN), a plurality of attributes of a first wireless link between the source device and a sink device of the WLAN and a plurality of attributes of a second wireless link between the source device and the sink device;
- a transmitter circuit for transmitting, from the source device, a source device connection policy indicating a preferred connection for at least the second wireless link;
- a connection manager circuit for comparing the plurality of attributes of the first wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with a streaming protocol and the plurality of attributes of the second wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with the streaming protocol;
- and
- a streaming session manager circuit for determining, at the source device, whether to establish a streaming session with the sink device over the first wireless link or the second wireless link based at least in part on the comparing.
A method of wireless communication, comprising:
- identifying, at a source device of a wireless local area network (WLAN), a plurality of attributes of a first wireless link between the source device and a sink device of the WLAN and a plurality of attributes of a second wireless link between the source device and the sink device;
- transmitting, from the source device, a source device connection policy including a preferred connection for at least the second wireless link;
- comparing the plurality of attributes of the first wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with a streaming protocol and the plurality of attributes of the second wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with the streaming protocol;
- and
- determining, at the source device, whether to establish a streaming session with the sink device over the first wireless link or the second wireless link based at least in part on the comparing.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing code for wireless communication, the code comprising instructions executable to:
- identify, at a source device of a wireless local area network (WLAN), a plurality of attributes of a first wireless link between the source device and a sink device of the WLAN and a plurality of attributes of a second wireless link between the source device and the sink device;
- transmit, from the source device, a source device connection policy including a preferred connection for at least the second wireless link;
- compare the plurality of attributes of the first wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with a streaming protocol and the plurality of attributes of the second wireless link with the source device connection policy associated with the streaming protocol;
- and
- determine, at the source device, whether to establish a streaming session with the sink device over the first wireless link or the second wireless link based at least in part on the comparing.
