Abstract
A lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted aminoester, wherein the N-hydrocarbyl substituent comprises a hydrocarbyl group of at least 3 carbons atoms, with a branch at the 1 or 2 position of the hydrocarbyl chain, provides good iron and copper corrosion performance in driveline or gear applications.
Claims23
A lubricant composition comprising:
- (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity;
- (b) an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted aminoester represented by the formula
- wherein R2 and R3 are independently alkyl groups of 1 to about 6 carbon atoms and
- R4 and R7 are independently alkyl groups of 1 to about 12 carbon atoms;
- and
- (c) about 0.05 to about 8 percent by weight of a substituted thiadiazole or about 0.04 to about 4 percent by weight of an amine (thio)phosphate.

A lubricant composition comprising:
- (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity;
- (b) an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted aminoester is represented by the formula
- wherein m is 0 or 1, R1 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group, R2 and R3 are independently hydrocarbyl groups or together form a carbocyclic structure, R4 is an ether-containing group or a polyether-containing group, having 2 to about 120 carbon atoms, and R5 is hydrogen, a hydrocarbyl group, or a group represented by —C(═O)—R6 where R6 is hydrogen, an alkyl group, or —O—R7, where R7 is a hydrocarbyl group of 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, provided that if R4 is methyl, then m is 0, and further provided that if m is 0, R1 is hydrogen;
- and
- (c) about 0.05 to about 8 percent by weight of a substituted thiadiazole or about 0.04 to about 4 percent by weight of an amine (thio)phosphate.
