Abstract
The invention provides lactamic polymers comprising an acetoacetate moiety. The lactamic polymers may be readily functionalized and the functionalized lactamic polymers may be further derivatized to provide a wide variety of useful polymers having desirable chemical and physical properties. The lactamic polymers of the invention may be employed in a wide variety of compositions. (A); (B) wherein R1-R6, w, x, y, z, and n are described herein.
Claims18
A lactamic polymer having the following structure:
- wherein each R1 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C30 functionalized and unfunctionalized alkyl groups, wherein any of the before mentioned groups may be with or without heteroatoms, and mixtures thereof;
- each R3 is independently selected from the group consisting of C1-C6 functionalized and unfunctionalized alkyl, amide, carbonyl, and carboxyl groups, wherein any of the before mentioned groups may be with or without heteroatoms, and mixtures thereof;
- each R5 is independently selected from the group consisting of C1-C12 functionalized and unfunctionalized alkyl and alkenyl groups, wherein any of the before mentioned groups may be with or without heteroatoms, and mixtures thereof;
- wherein w, a maleic anhydride derived monomer, may be partially or fully ring-opened;
- w, x, and y are mole percent, the sum of which =100%;
- and each n is an integer independently ranging from 1-4.
