Abstract
There are provided processes for removing H2S from a gas. The processes comprise contacting the gas with an aqueous composition comprising at least one calcium compound, thereby obtaining CaS and a H2S lean treated gas stream, while maintaining the pH at about 9.5 to about 13.0; and contacting the CaS with an aqueous oxidant solution, converting the CaS into at least one of CaSO3 and CaSO4, while maintaining the pH at about 9.5 to about 13.0.
Claims20
A process for removing H2S from a gas, the process comprising:
- contacting the gas with an aqueous solution comprising at least one calcium compound, thereby obtaining CaS and a H2S lean treated gas stream, while maintaining the pH at about 9.5 to about 13.0;
- and
- contacting the CaS with an aqueous oxidant solution, converting the CaS into at least one of CaSO3 and CaSO4, while maintaining the pH at about 9.5 to about 13.0.
