System for neuroprotective therapy for glaucoma

A system for providing glaucoma neuroprotective treatment, comprising:

• a laser console producing a pulsed laser light treatment beam having characteristics of providing a therapeutic effect to retinal tissue without permanently damaging the retinal tissue, the pulsed laser light treatment beam characteristics including a wavelength of 532 nm or greater and a duty cycle of less than 10%;
• an optical mask that the laser light beam passes through to optically shape the laser light treatment beam, including generating a plurality of treatment laser light spots;
• a coaxial wide-field non-contact digital optical viewing camera simultaneously projecting the plurality of laser light treatment spots beam to an area of a retina of an eye;
• and
• an optical scanning mechanism for controllably directing the light beam treatment spots onto the retina, including at least a portion of the fovea, to provide a therapeutic effect to the retinal tissue and improve at least one of optical nerve or retinal ganglion cell function.
