Abstract
Systems and methods for mechanosynthesis including those that avoid the need for a bootstrap process, avoid the need to build tips via mechanosynthesis, avoid the need for charging tips with feedstock during a build sequence, avoid the need to dispose of reaction byproducts, reduce the design complexity of new tips, and reduce or avoid the need for multiple positional means or tip switching.
Claims6
A tip, comprising:
- an adamantane body substituted with Ge at a bridgehead position;
- wherein said Ge constitutes an active site having feedstock bound thereto, said feedstock being selected from the group of,
- CH2 radical, SiH3, GeH3, SiMe3, and GeMe3,
- and
- one or more legs, connected to said adamantane body at one or more positions which allow other tips or workpieces access to said active site for the purposes of carrying out a mechanosynthetic reaction.
