Vehicle/aircraft security system based on vehicle displacement profile, with optional GPS/cellular discrimination indicator

A method of determining the nature of a displacement of a vehicle with respect to a surface, comprising the steps of:

• measuring and storing a reference distance between the vehicle and the surface;
• continuously monitoring the distance between the vehicle and the surface;
• calculating a displacement profile of a displacement event when it occurs;
• comparing the calculated displacement profile with predetermined displacement profiles;
• and
• producing a signal indicative of the nature of the displacement event.

An alarm system for a motor vehicle or aircraft, comprising:

• a) a displacement sensor for measuring linear displacement of a vehicle or aircraft relative to a plurality of predetermined displacement profiles that include theft and non-theft profiles;
• b) an indication system;
• and
• c) logic means connected to said displacement sensor and to said indication system, said logic means including instruction means for activating said indication system when said displacement sensor senses a displacement event that matches a predetermined displacement profile.

A method of determining the distance of a displacement vehicle or aircraft, comprising the steps of:

• a) measuring and storing a point of reference;
• b) continuously monitoring the reference point of a vehicle or aircraft and any displacement;
• c) calculating a displacement profile of a displacement event when it occurs;
• d) comparing the calculated displacement profile with predetermined displacement profiles;
• and
• e) producing a signal indicative of the nature of the displacement event.
