Abstract
New nematocides and plant growth regulants comprise diazoles of formula, ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, or substituted aryl, R.sup.2 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or substituted alkyl and X is oxygen or sulphur.

A compound of the formula:
- ##STR9## wherein R.sup.1 represents [alkyl;
- alkyl substituted by halogen, alkoxy, carboxy, hydroxy or nitro;] phenyl;
- or phenyl substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro,
- R.sub.2 is --CH.sub.2 COOH or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --COOH
- X is oxygen or sulphur
- wherein the alkyl and alkoxy radicals have from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a herbicidal or plant growth regulant salt;
- [lower] herbicidal or plant growth regulant alkyl ester or unsubstituted amide of such compound.
