A new and distinct variety of peach tree. The following features of the tree and its fruit are characterized with the tree budded on ‘Nemaguard’ Rootstock (non-patented), grown on Handford sandy loam soil with Storie Index rating 95, in USDA Hardiness Zone 9, near Modesto, Calif., with standard commercial fruit growing practices, such as pruning, thinning, spraying, irrigation and fertilization. Its novelty consist of the following combination of desirable features: 1. Heavy and regular production of large size fruit. 2. Fruit with firm, non-melting flesh suitable for mechanical pitters. 3. Maintains excellent fruit shape after being canned. 4. Relatively uniform fruit maturity throughout the tree. 5. Fruit with good flavor fresh as well as canned. 6. The tree with vigorous, upright growth.
A new and distinct variety of peach tree, substantially as illustrated and described, characterized by its large size, vigorous, upright growth and a regular and productive bearer of large, very firm, non-melting, yellow flesh, clingstone fruit, which after being canned maintains excellent fruit shape, texture and appearance with good flavor and eating quality, and in comparison to the canning variety ‘Andross’ Peach (non-patented), the new variety has firmer flesh, greater resistance to bruising and browning, more attractive appearance after being canned and is 1 to 2 days earlier in maturity.
