Abstract
A catalyst system including the reaction product of a fluorided support, an activator, and at least a first transition metal catalyst compound; methods of making such catalyst systems, polymerization processes using such catalyst systems, and polymers made therefrom.
Claims45
A catalyst system comprising the reaction product of a fluorided support, an activator and a catalyst compound of Formula I:
- wherein:
- M is a Group 4 transition metal;
- X1 and X2 are, independently, a univalent C1 to C20 hydrocarbyl radical, a C1 to C20 substituted hydrocarbyl radical, a heteroatom or a heteroatom-containing group, or X1 and X2 join together to form a C4 to C62 cyclic or polycyclic ring structure;
- each R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, and R10 is, independently, a hydrogen, a C1 to C40 hydrocarbyl radical, a C1-C40 substituted hydrocarbyl radical, a heteroatom or a heteroatom-containing group, or two or more of R1 to R10 may independently join together to form a C4 to C62 cyclic or polycyclic ring structure;
- Q is a neutral donor group;
- J is a C7 to C60 fused polycyclic group, which optionally comprises up to 20 atoms from Groups 15 and 16, where at least one ring is aromatic and where at least one ring, which may or may not be aromatic, has at least five members;
- G is as defined for J or may be hydrogen, a C1-C60 hydrocarbyl radical, a C1-C60 substituted hydrocarbyl radical, a heteroatom or a heteroatom-containing group, or may independently form a C4 to C60 cyclic or polycyclic ring structure with R6, R7, or R8;
- and
- Y is a divalent C1 to C20 hydrocarbylene or divalent C1 to C20 substituted hydrocarbylene.
A catalyst system comprising the reaction product of a fluorided support, an activator and a catalyst compound:
- represented by the formula (II) or (III):
- wherein:
- M is a Group 4 transition metal;
- X1 and X2 are, independently, a univalent C1 to C20 hydrocarbyl radical, a C1 to C20 substituted hydrocarbyl radical, a heteroatom or a heteroatom-containing group, or X1 and X2 join together to form a C4 to C62 cyclic or polycyclic ring structure;
- each R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, and R10 is, independently, a hydrogen, a C1 to C40 hydrocarbyl radical, a C1-C40 substituted hydrocarbyl radical, a heteroatom or a heteroatom-containing group, or two or more of R1 to R10 may independently join together to form a C4 to C62 cyclic or polycyclic ring structure;
- Y is a divalent C1 to C20 hydrocarbylene or divalent C1 to C20 substituted hydrocarbylene;
- each R*, R″, R11, R12, R13, R14, R15, R16, R17, R18, R19, R20, R21, R22, R23, R24, R25, R26, and R27 is, independently, a hydrogen, a C1 to C40 hydrocarbyl radical, a C1 to C40 substituted hydrocarbyl radical, a functional group comprising elements from Groups 13 to 17 of the periodic table of the elements, or two or more of R1 to R27 may independently join together to form a C4 to C62 cyclic or polycyclic ring structure, or R1 and R* may independently join together to form a five- to eight-membered heterocycle;
- Q* is a group 15 or 16 atom;
- z is 0 or 1;
- J* is CR″ or N;
- and
- G* is CR″ or N.
