System and method for high throughput fractionated satellites (HTFS) for direct connectivity to and from end user devices and terminals using flight formations of small or very small satellites

A high throughput satellite system, comprising:

• a dense large phased array of a plurality of coordinated small remote satellites, each remote satellite having one or more antenna and a relative positioning system including an electromagnetic device that maintains a distance in close proximity to other remote satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) in space, the dense array of coordinated remote satellites forming a single combined large aperture system in space, and wherein each remote satellite is less than 1.5 Kg in mass, and said dense large phased array substantially has a single orbital inclination to provide contiguous coverage on Earth;
• wherein the plurality of small remote satellites are structurally disconnected and have a transport configuration for combined compact transport to space;
• wherein the plurality of small remote satellites have an operating configuration whereby the relative positioning system controls the electromagnetic device to form the plurality of small remote satellites into the dense large phased array in space;
• and
• wherein in the operating configuration, the plurality of small remote satellites form a volumetric shape.
