Inhibitors and methods of inhibiting bacterial and viral pathogens

A pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a compound having the following general Formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:

• wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of:
• H, chloro, methyl, methoxy, ethoxy, nitro and fluoro;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of:
• H, chloro, methyl, methoxy, trifluoromethyl, propanoylamino and 2-methylpropanoylamino;
• R3 is selected from the group consisting of:
• H, methyl, amino, methylamino, dimethylamino, phenylamino and 3-pyridylamino;
• R4 is selected from the group consisting of:
• H, chloro, methyl, methoxy, trifluoromethyl and trifluoromethoxy;
• and
• R5 is selected from the group consisting of H and methyl;
• provided that R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 cannot all be H;
• and
• provided that when R3 is amino, then R1, R2, R4, and R5 cannot all be H.
