Channelization for dispersion limited waveguide communication channels

A receiver to receive, from a dielectric waveguide, a radio frequency (RF) signal, the receiver comprising:

• a demultiplexer to demultiplex the RF signal into a plurality of filtered RF signals based at least in part on a plurality of channels, each channel having a frequency band that does not overlap with the other channels, wherein the RF signal is to have a frequency range from a lower frequency greater than or equal to approximately 30 gigahertz (GHz) to an upper frequency less than approximately 1 terahertz (THz);
• and
• a plurality of demodulators, respective ones of the plurality of demodulators to demodulate a filtered RF signal from the plurality of filtered RF signals based at least in part on a local oscillator (LO) signal, wherein the demultiplexer includes:
• a splitter to split the RF signal into a plurality of RF signal paths;
• and
• a plurality of filters, respective ones of the plurality of filters to receive an RF signal from one of the RF signal paths and filter the RF signal based at least in part on one of the plurality of channels to produce a filtered RF signal of the plurality of filtered RF signals.

A dielectric waveguide communication apparatus comprising:

• a transmitter that includes:
• a plurality of mixers, respective ones of the plurality of mixers to generate a modulated radio frequency (RF) signal in a transmission channel having a frequency band that does not overlap with the other transmission channels;
• a combiner to combine the modulated RF signals from the respective ones of the plurality of mixers into a combined modulated RF signal for transmission over a dielectric waveguide;
• a programmable local oscillator (LO) synthesizer coupled with the plurality of mixers;
• a controller coupled with the programmable LO synthesizer, wherein the controller is to direct the LO synthesizer to generate a number of frequencies based at least in part on a total group delay over an available frequency bandwidth;
• a receiver that includes:
• a demultiplexer to demultiplex a received RF signal into a plurality of filtered RF signals based at least in part on a plurality of reception channels, each reception channel having a frequency band that does not overlap with the other reception channels;
• and
• a plurality of demodulators, respective ones of the plurality of demodulators to demodulate a filtered signal from the plurality of filtered RF signals;
• and
• a waveguide interface coupled with the transmitter and the receiver.
