A composite comprising:
- silicon (Si);
- a silicon oxide of the formula SiOx disposed on the silicon, wherein 0<x<2;
- and
- a graphene disposed on the silicon oxide,
- wherein a distance between the silicon oxide and the graphene is about 1 nanometer or less.
