Adaptive quota management system

A method for determining a quota, comprising;

• receiving a quota request for an activity;
• receiving an estimation or an actual measurement of one or more operating parameters, wherein an operating parameter of the one or more operating parameters comprises a quota consumption rate for the activity;
• determining a candidate quota based at least in part on candidate quota parameters, wherein the candidate quota comprises a candidate quota amount and a candidate quota validity time;
• determining one or more quota modifications based on the estimation or the actual measurement of the one or more operating parameters, wherein determining the one or more quota modifications comprises:
• determining a new target quota amount based at least in part on the quota consumption rate for the activity;
• in the event that the new target quota amount exceeds a quota limit, setting a final quota amount as the quota limit;
• and
• in the event that the new target quota amount does not exceed the quota limit, setting the final quota amount as the new target quota amount;
• and
• providing a final quota based at least in part on the candidate quota and the one or more quota modifications, wherein the final quota comprises the final quota amount and a final quota validity time.

A computer program product for determining a quota, the computer program product being embodied in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

• receiving a quota request for an activity;
• receiving an estimation or an actual measurement of one or more operating parameters, wherein an operating parameter of the one or more operating parameters comprises a quota consumption rate for the activity;
• determining a candidate quota based at least in part on candidate quota parameters, wherein the candidate quota comprises a candidate quota amount and a candidate quota validity time;
• determining one or more quota modifications based on the estimation or the actual measurement of the one or more operating parameters, wherein determining the one or more quota modifications comprises:
• determining a new target quota amount based at least in part on the quota consumption rate for the activity;
• in the event that the new target quota amount exceeds a quota limit, setting a final quota amount as the quota limit;
• and
• in the event that the new target quota amount does not exceed the quota limit, setting the final quota amount as the new target quota amount;
• and
• providing a final quota based at least in part on the candidate quota and the one or more quota modifications, wherein the final quota comprises the final quota amount and a final quota validity time.
