Abstract
The various methods and devices described herein relate to devices which, in at least certain embodiments, may include one or more sensors for providing data relating to user activity and at least one processor for causing the device to respond based on the user activity which was determined, at least in part, through the sensors. The response by the device may include a change of state of the device, and the response may be automatically performed after the user activity is determined.
Claims23
A method, comprising:
- at an electronic device with one or more processors, memory, and a touch-sensitive display:
- receiving data relating to at least one of device movement and device proximity;
- receiving a touch input at a location on the touch-sensitive display;
- processing the received data relating to the at least one of device movement and device proximity to determine whether the electronic device is in one of a first or second state based on the received data relating to at least one of device movement and device proximity;
- if it is determined that the electronic device is in the first state, processing the touch input, including determining the location the touch input was received on the touch-sensitive display, and performing a function associated with the location of the processed touch input;
- and
- if it is determined that the electronic device is in the second state, processing the touch input, including determining the location the touch input was received on the touch-sensitive display, and forgoing the function associated with the location of the processed touch input.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing executable program instructions, which, when executed by an electronic device with one or more processors, memory, and a touch-sensitive display, cause the electronic device to:
- receiving data relating to at least one of device movement and device proximity;
- receive a touch input at a location on the touch-sensitive display;
- process the received data relating to the at least one of device movement and device proximity to determine whether the electronic device is in one of a first or second state based on the received data relating to at least one of device movement and device proximity;
- if it is determined that the electronic device is in the first state, process the touch input, including determining the location the touch input was received on the touch-sensitive display, and performing a function associated with the location of the processed touch input;
- and
- if it is determined that the electronic device is in the second state, process the touch input, including determining the location the touch input was received on the touch-sensitive display, and forgoing the function associated with the location of the processed touch input.
An electronic device, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- a touch-sensitive display;
- and
- memory storing one or more programs to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs comprising instructions for:
- receiving data relating to at least one of device movement and device proximity;
- receiving a touch input at a location on the touch-sensitive display;
- processing the received data relating to the at least one of device movement and device proximity to determine whether the electronic device is in one of a first or second state based on the received data relating to at least one of device movement and device proximity;
- if it is determined that the electronic device is in the first state, processing the touch input, including determining the location the touch input was received on the touch-sensitive display, and performing a function associated with the location of the processed touch input;
- and
- if it is determined that the electronic device is in the second state, processing the touch input, including determining the location the touch input was received on the touch-sensitive display, and forgoing the function associated with the location of the processed touch input.
