Abstract
A method of one embodiment includes generating, by a touch-sensing device, a first signal comprising information identifying a first electrode line of an electrode array of the touch-sensing device, the first signal having a first strength. The first electrode sends the first signal to a stylus, which receives the first signal, the first signal having a received strength. The stylus sends a second signal comprising information based on the received first signal, and the touch-sensing device receives the second signal. A position of the stylus is determined based at least in part on the information identifying the first electrode line and the received strength of the first signal.

A method comprising:
- generating, by a touch-sensing device, a first signal comprising information identifying a first electrode line of an electrode array of the touch-sensing device and a second signal comprising information identifying a second electrode line of the electrode array of the touch-sensing device;
- sending, by the first electrode line, the first signal to a stylus, the first signal sent by the first electrode line at a first strength;
- sending, by the second electrode line, the second signal to the stylus, the second signal sent by the second electrode line at a second strength;
- receiving, by the stylus, the first signal and the second signal, the first signal and second signal each having a received strength, respectively;
- sending, by the stylus, a response signal comprising information that includes the position of the stylus based on the received first signal and second signal;
- receiving, by the touch-sensing device, the response signal;
- and
- determining a position of the stylus based at least in part on the information identifying the first electrode line, a difference between the strength at which the first signal was sent by the first electrode line and the received strength of the first signal, and the response signal.
A method comprising:
- generating, by a touch-sensing device, a first signal comprising information identifying a first electrode line of an electrode array of the touch-sensing device, the first signal having a first strength;
- sending, by the first electrode line, the first signal to a stylus, the first signal sent by the first electrode line at the first strength;
- the touch sensor comprising the first electrode line;
- receiving, by the touch-sensing device, a received signal from the stylus, the received signal based at least in part on the information identifying the first electrode line and a strength at which the first signal was received by the stylus, the received signal comprising information indicating the strength at which the first signal was received by the stylus;
- determining a position of the stylus based at least in part on the information identifying the first electrode line and the strength at which the first signal was received by the stylus, and a difference between the strength at which the first signal was sent by the first electrode line and the strength at which the first signal was received by the stylus.
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a stylus, a first signal comprising information identifying a first electrode line of an electrode array of a touch-sensing device and a second signal comprising information identifying a second electrode line of the electrode array of the touch-sensing device, the first signal having a first received strength and comprising information indicating a strength at which the first signal was sent by the first electrode line and the second signal having a second received strength and comprising information indicating a strength at which the second signal was sent by the second electrode line, the touch sensor comprising the first electrode line and the second electrode line;
- analyzing, by the stylus, the first signal to determine the first received strength and the information identifying the first electrode line and the second signal to determine the second received strength and the information identifying the first electrode line;
- generating, by the stylus, a first response signal comprising information that includes a position of the stylus based at least in part on the first received strength and the information identifying the first electrode line and the second received strength and the information identifying the second electrode line;
- sending, by the stylus, the first response signal to a touch-sensing device;
- and
- determining, by the stylus, the position of the stylus based at least in part on the first received strength, the information identifying the first electrode line, the second received strength, the information identifying the second electrode line, and a difference between the strength at which the first signal was sent by the first electrode line and the first received strength of the first signal.
A system comprising:
- a touch-sensing device comprising:
- an electrode array comprising a first electrode line configured to send a first signal;
- a controller connected to the electrode array and configured to control the sending of the first signal by the first electrode line, the first signal comprising information identifying the first electrode line;
- and a processor connected to the controller;
- and a stylus comprising:
- a sensor configured to receive the first signal, the touch sensor comprising the first electrode line;
- a signal processor configured to measure a strength at which the first signal was received by the stylus, the first signal further comprising information indicating a strength at which the first signal was sent by the first electrode line;
- and a transmitter configured to send a response signal based on the strength at which the first signal was received by the stylus and the information identifying the first electrode line;
- wherein a position of the stylus is determined based on the strength at which the first signal was received by the stylus and the information identifying the first electrode, a difference between the strength at which the first signal was sent by the first electrode line and the received strength of the first signal, and the response signal.
