Pregabalin immunoassays

An isolated antibody that specifically binds an epitope present in pregabalin and present in a compound of Formula (A):

• wherein
• R1 or R2 is —X—W-L-Z, wherein
• when R1 is —X—W-L-Z, then R2 is —NH2,
• when R2 is —X—W-L-Z, then R1 is —OH, and
• X is NH;
• W is selected from a bond, alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkenyl, substituted alkenyl, alkynyl, substituted alkynyl, cycloalkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, substituted heterocyclyl, aryl, substituted aryl, heteroaryl, substituted heteroaryl, and carbonyl;
• L is a bond or a linker;
• and
• Z is selected from H, alkyl, substituted alkyl, a reactive functional group, an immunogenic carrier and a detectable label;
• or a salt thereof, wherein the antibody has a cross-reactivity to gabapentin and L-amino acids of 1% or less based on a value of 100% cross-reactivity to pregabalin, and
• wherein the antibody preferentially binds to pregabalin in the presence of the compound of Formula (A) where Z is the detectable label.
