Abstract
A method of treating an injury to hyaline cartilage in a subject in need thereof. The method comprises administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of amelogenin.

A method of regenerating functional hyaline cartilage in a subject suffering from damage to hyaline cartilage, comprising administering to the site of damage a therapeutically effective amount of an amelogenin polypeptide having the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:1, thereby regenerating functional hyaline cartilage.
