Abstract
The present invention provides a method for generating a functionally modifying antibody to an ion channel comprising immunizing a host with a cyclic peptide comprising at least part of an extracellular sequence of said ion channel.

A method for generating an antibody to a sodium ion channel comprising immunizing a host with a cyclic peptide comprising of 5 to 30 amino acids of an extracellular sequence of said ion channel, wherein the cyclised peptide contains a single cysteine or homocysteine residue linking the N-terminal to the C-terminal.
