Abstract
A method includes receiving image information related to a first plurality of pixels at a first data pathway, receiving image information related to a second plurality of pixels at a second data pathway, where the first plurality of pixels and the second plurality of pixels include a shared plurality of pixels. The method also includes performing image processing in dependence on image information related to the shared plurality of pixels, and combining data output from the first and second data pathways into a stream of data where the stream output is generated using a first clock frequency which is substantially the same as that used in the first and second data pathways.
Claims25
A method comprising:
- generating a first data stream related to a first plurality of pixels of a pixel array, the first data stream comprising first data sequentially arranged in a readout direction;
- generating a second data stream related to a second plurality of pixels of the pixel array, the second data stream comprising second data sequentially arranged in the readout direction, the first plurality of pixels and the second plurality of pixels being spatially non-overlapping portions of the pixel array;
- generating first image information by appending an initial portion of the second data stream to the first data stream, the initial portion of the second data stream being sequentially arranged after the first data stream in the readout direction;
- generating second image information by appending a terminal portion of the first data stream to the second data stream, the terminal portion of the first data stream being sequentially arranged before the second data stream in the readout direction, wherein the appending of the initial portion of the second data stream to the first data stream and the appending of the terminal portion of the first data stream to the second data stream cause the first image information and the second image information to comprise a shared plurality of pixels;
- receiving the first image information at a first data pathway;
- receiving the second image information at a second data pathway;
- performing image processing on the first data pathway and the second data pathway;
- and
- combining data output from the first and second data pathways into a stream of data where stream output is generated using a first clock frequency which is substantially the same as that used in the first and second data pathways.
An apparatus comprising:
- a first memory configured to store a first data stream related to a first plurality of pixels of a pixel array, the first data stream comprising first data sequentially arranged in a readout direction;
- a second memory configured to store a second data stream related to a second plurality of pixels of the pixel array, the second data stream comprising second data sequentially arranged in the readout direction, the first plurality of pixels and the second plurality of pixels being spatially non-overlapping portions of the pixel array;
- a third memory configured to store an initial portion of the second data stream;
- a fourth memory configured to store a terminal portion of the first data stream;
- a data processor configured to generate first image information by appending the initial portion of the second data stream to the first data stream, the initial portion of the second data stream being sequentially arranged after the first data stream in the readout direction, the data processor being further configured to generate second image information by appending a terminal portion of the first data stream to the second data stream, the terminal portion of the first data stream being sequentially arranged before the second data stream in the readout direction, wherein the appending of the initial portion of the second data stream to the first data stream and the appending of the terminal portion of the first data stream to the second data stream cause the first image information and the second image information to comprise a shared plurality of pixels;
- a first data pathway configured to receive the first image information;
- a second data pathway configured to receive the second image information at a second data pathway;
- and
- an image processor configured to perform image processing on the first data pathway and the second data pathway, and to combine data output from said first and second data pathways into a stream of data where stream output is generated using a first clock frequency which is substantially the same as that used in said first and second data pathways.
A non-transitory computer readable medium having executable instructions that when executed are configured to cause one or more processors to:
- generate a first data stream related to a first plurality of pixels of a pixel array, the first data stream comprising first data sequentially arranged in a readout direction;
- generate a second data stream related to a second plurality of pixels of the pixel array, the second data stream comprising second data sequentially arranged in the readout direction, the first plurality of pixels and the second plurality of pixels being spatially non-overlapping portions of the pixel array;
- generate first image information by appending an initial portion of the second data stream to the first data stream, the initial portion of the second data stream being sequentially arranged after the first data stream in the readout direction;
- generate second image information by appending a terminal portion of the first data stream to the second data stream, the terminal portion of the first data stream being sequentially arranged before the second data stream in the readout direction, wherein the appending of the initial portion of the second data stream to the first data stream and the appending of the terminal portion of the first data stream to the second data stream cause the first image information and the second image information to comprise a shared plurality of pixels;
- receive the first image information related to a first plurality of pixels at a first data pathway;
- receive the second image information related to a second plurality of pixels at a second data pathway;
- and
- combine data output from the first and second data pathways into a stream of data where stream output is generated using a first clock frequency which is substantially the same as that used in said first and second data pathways, wherein the first plurality of pixels and the second plurality of pixels comprises a shared plurality of pixels.
