Devices and methods for sealing staples in tissue

A surgical kit, comprising:

• a container housing a biocompatible sealant;
• an applicator nozzle configured to couple to the container, the applicator nozzle including a distal opening, and the applicator nozzle including a shield positioned within the opening and extending distally outwards therefrom;
• and
• a surgical stapler having a first jaw, a second jaw, and a longitudinal slot formed in at least one of the first and second jaws;
• wherein the applicator nozzle having the container coupled thereto is configured to interface with the surgical stapler such that when interfaced therewith at least a portion of the shield is received in the longitudinal slot and abuts longitudinally extending walls of the longitudinal slot and the sealant is deliverable from the applicator nozzle into a plurality of openings formed in at least one of the first and second jaws.
