## Abstract

A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device receiving diagnostic information from a plurality of client devices delivering media content, wherein the diagnostic information relates to a media delivery service quality and wherein the diagnostic information is sent automatically by the client devices; performing a data compression procedure for the diagnostic information; transmitting compressed data comprising the diagnostic information to an aggregator device; and sending to the client devices a message to delay or prevent transmission of additional diagnostic information in accordance with an instruction received from the aggregator device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A server comprising:
a memory to store instructions; and
a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor, responsive to executing the instructions, performs operations comprising:
receiving diagnostic data based on client reports published by client devices on a network, wherein the client devices deliver media content, wherein the client reports comprise information relating to a media delivery service quality;
identifying a degradation of the service quality or a fault related to the service quality based on the diagnostic data;
determining that publication of subsequent client reports regarding the degradation of the service quality or the fault is to be delayed or suppressed; and
sending an instruction, via a network device communicatively coupled to the server, that the publication of subsequent client reports regarding the degradation of the service quality or the fault is to be delayed or suppressed.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The server of claim 1, wherein the diagnostic data comprises correlated data based on correlation of the client reports performed by the network device.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The server of claim 2, wherein the network device comprises an aggregator for aggregating the client reports, and wherein the correlation is performed by the aggregator using a pattern matching function.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The server of claim 3, wherein the client reports are published automatically to a collector device communicatively coupled to the aggregator.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The server of claim 4, wherein the aggregator receives the client reports from the collector device as compressed data.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The server of claim 1, wherein the diagnostic data is based on automated trouble publish logs published by the client devices and on additional reports received via the network.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The server of claim 6, wherein the additional reports comprise server-side logs generated by network components communicatively coupled to the server.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The server of claim 1, wherein the degradation of the service quality comprises a service outage, a service impairment, or scheduled network maintenance, and wherein the fault comprises a timing error or a digital rights management error.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The server of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise sending a message to a network maintenance component signifying an alarm condition.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The server of claim 9, wherein the operations further comprise causing the network maintenance component to generate a maintenance ticket to resolve a service outage or a service impairment.

### Claim 11

A method comprising:
receiving, by a server comprising a processor, diagnostic data relating to a media delivery service quality, wherein the diagnostic data is based on client reports published by client devices delivering media content on a network, and additional reports received via the network;
identifying, by the server, a degradation of the service quality or a fault related to the service quality based on the diagnostic data;
determining, by the server, that publication of subsequent client reports regarding the degradation of the service quality or the fault is to be delayed or suppressed; and
sending, by the server via a network device, an instruction that the publication of subsequent client reports regarding the degradation of the service quality or the fault is to be delayed or suppressed.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the diagnostic data comprises correlated data based on correlation of the client reports performed by the network device.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the additional reports comprise server-side logs generated by network components communicatively coupled to the server.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, further comprising sending a message to a network maintenance component signifying an alarm condition.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14, wherein the degradation of the service quality comprises a service outage or a service impairment, and further comprising causing the network maintenance component to generate a maintenance ticket to resolve the service outage or service impairment.

### Claim 16

A machine-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations comprising:
receiving diagnostic data based on client reports published by client devices on a network, wherein the client devices deliver media content, wherein the client reports comprise information relating to a media delivery service quality;
identifying a degradation of the service quality or a fault related to the service quality based on the diagnostic data;
determining that publication of subsequent client reports regarding the degradation of the service quality or the fault is to be delayed or suppressed; and
sending an instruction, via a network device communicatively coupled to the processor, that the publication of subsequent client reports regarding the degradation of the service quality or the fault is to be delayed or suppressed,
wherein the diagnostic data comprises correlated data based on correlation of the client reports performed by the network device.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the diagnostic data is based on logs published by the client devices and on additional reports received via the network.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The machine-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the additional reports comprise server-side logs generated by network components communicatively coupled to the processor.

### Claim 19 (depends on 16)

The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the network device comprises an aggregator for aggregating the client reports, and wherein the correlation is performed by the aggregator using a pattern matching function.

### Claim 20 (depends on 16)

The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the degradation of the service quality comprises a service outage, a service impairment, or scheduled network maintenance, and wherein the fault comprises a timing error or a digital rights management error.
