Abstract
A base station may establish a wireless connection with a mobile device. The base station may determine an index value for each of a plurality of carriers that may be used for the wireless connection. The index value for a respective carrier may be determined based on a quantity of idle mode devices using the respective carrier in an idle mode. The base station may generate a carrier order that indicates a priority for each of the plurality of frequencies. The carrier order may be generated based on sorting the plurality of carriers based on the index values for the plurality of carriers. The base station may send order information indicating the carrier order to the mobile device via the wireless connection.
Claims20
A device, comprising:
- one or more memories;
- and
- one or more processors, communicatively coupled to the one or more memories, to:
- establish a first connection with a base station;
- receive order information from the base station;
- the received order information indicating an order of priority of a plurality of carriers to be used to initiate a connection with the base station, and
- the received order information being determined based on sorting the plurality of carriers based on an index value for each of the plurality of carriers,
- the index value for a respective carrier, of the plurality of carriers,
- being normalized based on a bandwidth of the respective carrier;
- end the first connection with the base station;
- enter an idle mode based on ending the first connection;
- select a particular carrier, of the plurality of carriers, to use in the idle mode based on the received order information;
- and
- establish a second connection with the base station,
- the second connection being established using the particular carrier.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions comprising:
- one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a device, cause the one or more processors to:
- establish a first connection with a base station;
- receive order information from the base station;
- the received order information indicating an order of priority of a plurality of carriers to be used to initiate a connection with the base station, and
- the received order information being determined based on sorting the plurality of carriers based on an index value for each of the plurality of carriers,
- the index value for a respective carrier, of the plurality of carriers, being normalized based on a bandwidth of the respective carrier;
- end the first connection with the base station;
- enter an idle mode based on ending the first connection;
- select a particular carrier, of the plurality of carriers, to use in the idle mode based on the received order information;
- and
- establish a second connection with the base station,
- the second connection being established using the particular carrier.
A method, comprising:
- establishing, by a device, a first connection with a base station;
- receiving, by the device, order information from the base station;
- the received order information indicating an order of priority of a plurality of carriers to be used to initiate a connection with the base station, and
- the received order information being generated based on sorting the plurality of carriers based on an index value for each of the plurality of carriers,
- the index value for a respective carrier, of the plurality of carriers, being normalized based on a bandwidth of the respective carrier;
- ending, by the device, the first connection with the base station;
- entering, by the device, an idle mode based on ending the connection;
- selecting, by the device, a particular carrier, of the plurality of carriers, to use in the idle mode based on the received order information;
- and
- establishing, by the device, a second connection with the base station,
- the second connection being established using the particular carrier.
