Abstract
A display system is disclosed for animation of media objects on tiled displays. The display system can include a plurality of discrete display nodes and a control module configured to determine a graphical representation of a current state of a media object. The control module can be configured to determine a graphical representation of a future state of the media object. The control module can also be configured to determine a path area on the display nodes comprising a plurality of graphical representations of the media object during a change from the current state to the future state. The control module also can be configured to cause the display nodes overlapping with at least a portion of the path area to prepare to display the media object.

A display system comprising:
- a plurality of discrete display devices disposed in proximity to one another, wherein each discrete display device comprises a separate processor and memory;
- and
- a computing device comprising a second processor, the computing device configured to determine a graphical representation of a media object in a current state and cause the graphical representation of the media object in the current state to be displayed on a first discrete display device in the plurality of discrete display devices at a first time;
- the computing device further configured to determine a path of the media object as the media object transitions from the current state to a future state, wherein the path overlaps at least a portion of a second discrete display device in the plurality of discrete display devices;
- the computing device further configured to determine that the graphical representation of the media object in the future state should be displayed by the second discrete display device at a second time after the first time based on the determined path, wherein a difference between the second time and the first time is greater than a loading delay of the media object, and wherein the loading delay is determined based on a media object type and a type of source from which the media object is retrieved;
- the computing device further configured to cause the second discrete display device to load the graphical representation of the media object in the future state at the first time for display on the second discrete display device at the second time.
A method of displaying a media object on an arrayed display system including a plurality of discrete display devices disposed adjacent one another, each discrete display device comprising a separate processor and memory, the method comprising:
- determining, by a computing device comprising a second processor, a graphical representation of the media object in a current state and causing the graphical representation of the media object in the current state to be displayed on a first discrete display device in the plurality of discrete display devices at a first time;
- determining, by the computing device, a path of the media object as the media object transitions from the current state to a future state, wherein the path overlaps at least a portion of a second discrete display device in the plurality of discrete display devices;
- determining, by the computing device, that the graphical representation of the media object in the future state should be displayed by the second discrete display device at a second time after the first time based on the determined path, wherein a difference between the second time and the first time is greater than a loading delay of the media object, and wherein the loading delay is determined based on a media object type and a type of source from which the media object is retrieved;
- and
- instructing, by the computing device, the second discrete display device to load the graphical representation of the media object in the future state at the first time for display on the second discrete display device at the second time.
A computer program stored in a non-transitory computer readable media, the program, when executed by a computer, causing the computer to:
- determine a graphical representation of the media object in a current state and causing the graphical representation of the media object in the current state to be displayed on a first discrete display device in a plurality of discrete display devices at a first time, wherein the plurality of discrete display devices are disposed in proximity to one another and each comprise a separate processor and memory;
- determine a path of the media object as the media object transitions from the current state to a future state, wherein the path overlaps at least a portion of a second discrete display device in the plurality of discrete display devices;
- determine that the graphical representation of the media object in the future state should be displayed by the second discrete display device at a second time after the first time based on the determined path, wherein a difference between the second time and the first time is greater than a loading delay of the media object, and wherein the loading delay is determined based on a media object type and a type of source from which the media object is retrieved;
- and
- instruct the second discrete display device to load the graphical representation of the media object in the future state at the first time for display on the second discrete display device at the second time.
