Improvements to matrix additives

An additive for a thermoset resin matrix, said additive having a core and a cross-linked thermoset coating, wherein the cross-linked thermoset coating is the reaction product of an epoxy thermoset resin and an amine curative which precipitate out of solution from a dispersant onto the surface of the core and wherein said cross-linked thermoset coating comprises reactive amine groups derived from the amine curative, said reactive groups being disposed on the surface of said cross-linked thermoset cross-linked thermosetting coating, said core comprising a veil, and wherein the dispersant is bound to surface of the crosslinked thermoset coating at a concentration of no greater than 0.001 weight percent based on the weight of the additive.
