Abstract
A first inductive structure includes a data coil to transfer data by inductive coupling with a second inductive structure. First and second portions of the data coil are connected to one another at a center tap to conduct respective first and second common mode currents, induced by a common mode transient between: a first ground line coupled to the center tap; and a galvanically isolated second ground line of the second inductive structure.
Claims20
A device comprising:
- a first inductive structure including a data coil to transfer data by inductive coupling with a second inductive structure, and further including a first power coil around the data coil, wherein first and second portions of the data coil are connected to one another at a center tap to conduct respective first and second common mode currents, induced by a common mode transient between:
- a first ground line coupled to the center tap;
- and a galvanically isolated second ground line of the second inductive structure;
- wherein the first power coil is coupled to transfer power by inductive coupling with a second power coil of the second inductive structure.
A method performed by a first inductive structure that includes a data coil to transfer data by inductive coupling with a second inductive structure, and that further includes a first power coil around the data coil, the method comprising:
- conducting respective first and second common mode currents through first and second portions of the data coil that are connected to one another at a center tap, the first and second common mode currents being induced by a common mode transient between:
- a first ground line coupled to the center tap;
- and a galvanically isolated second ground line of the second inductive structure;
- and
- with the first power coil, transferring power by inductive coupling with a second power coil of the second inductive structure.
