Abstract
A method for screening an AMPK activator, wherein inhibition of an interaction between prohibitin and AMPK is used as an index is provided. Besides, an AMPK activator comprising, as an active ingredient, a compound inhibiting an interaction between prohibitin and AMPK, and a prohibitin-AMPK complex are also provided.

A method for screening for an AMPK activator, comprising using an inhibition of an interaction between a prohibitin and an AMPK as an index.
A process of making a prohibitin-AMPK complex, comprising:
- isolating a prohibitin overexpressed in a cell or obtained by an in vitro translation system;
- isolating an AMPK overexpressed in a cell or obtained by an in vitro translation system;
- and
- binding the prohibitin and the AMPK to each other to obtain the prohibitin-AMPK complex.
