Abstract
Embodiments of methods, systems, and apparatuses for lyophilizing, storing, and transfusing materials are described. In embodiments, the materials may include whole blood or a component of whole blood such as plasma.
Claims6
A container for lyophilizing, storing, and transfusing a blood component, the container comprising:
- a first wall made from a porous material comprising a polymer, the first wall having a first permeability to water vapor;
- a second wall attached to the first wall to define an interior volume of the container, wherein the second wall comprises a polymeric material and has a second permeability to water vapor that is lower than the first permeability to water vapor;
- the interior volume of the container holding a blood component for lyophilization;
- and
- a third wall positioned adjacent the first wall to provide protection for the first wall, wherein the third wall has a third permeability to water vapor that is greater than or equal to the first permeability to water vapor.
