Method and system for link synchronization in an LTE-TDD architecture

A system for generating synchronized signals, the system including:

• a digital power meter including a first input port and a second input port, the first input port being configured to detect an input signal and the second input port being configured to receive a power threshold level, wherein the digital power meter determines that a power level associated with the input signal exceeds the power threshold level and outputs an estimated sync pulse;
• a sync debug module coupled to the digital power meter and configured to determine a width of the estimated sync pulse;
• an error detector coupled to the digital power meter and configured to determine a calculated error between the estimated sync pulse and an expected time of a subframe;
• a first reset module coupled to the sync debug module and configured to transmit a reset signal to the sync debug module at an interval corresponding to the expected time of the subframe;
• a sync pulse regenerator coupled to the error detector and configured to output a regenerated sync pulse;
• and
• an offset controlled reset module coupled to the sync pulse regenerator.

A method of detecting a synchronization switching pulse in a time division duplexing (TDD) system, the method comprising:

• receiving an input signal;
• detecting a power level associated with the input signal using a digital power meter;
• determining a configuration associated with the input signal;
• determining that a pulse width associated with the input signal is greater than a threshold;
• determining an offset associated with a special subframe configuration;
• generating an estimated sync pulse;
• forming a regenerated sync pulse;
• determining an error between the estimated sync pulse and the regenerated sync pulse;
• determining that the error is less than a threshold;
• providing the regenerated sync pulse as the synchronization switching pulse;
• and
• providing a lock detect.
