Abstract
A fiber optic encryption method is provided. The method includes transmitting an initial security key to a laser receiver apparatus over an out of band (OOB) signaling channel of a plurality of channels of a laser transmitter apparatus. The OOB signaling channel is secured based on the initial security key resulting in a secure OOB signaling channel. A secure bundle is generated. The secure bundle includes the secure OOB signaling channel and a group of channels and associated transmission frequencies. Data is transmitted via the secure bundle and it is determined if any channels do not transmit the data.
Claims17
A fiber optic encryption method comprising:
- transmitting to a laser receiver apparatus, by a computer co-processor of a laser transmitter apparatus via a first laser cannon of said laser transmitter apparatus, an initial security key over an out of band (OOB) signaling channel of said laser transmitter apparatus;
- securing, by said computer co-processor based on said initial security key, said OOB signaling channel resulting in a secure OOB signaling channel enabled by said first laser cannon;
- generating, by said computer co-processor based on said secure OOB signaling channel, a secure bundle comprising said secure OOB signaling channel enabled by said first laser cannon and a group of channels and associated transmission frequencies enabled by a second laser cannon of said laser transmitter apparatus, wherein said first laser cannon differs from said second laser cannon;
- transmitting, by said computer co-processor via said first laser cannon and said second laser cannon, data via said secure bundle;
- determining, by said computer co-processor, if any channels of said group of channels does not transmit said data, wherein results of said determining indicate that at least one channel of said group of channels does not transmit said data, and
- allocating, by said computer co-processor, said at least one channel for migrating data flow from said at least one channel to said secure OOB signaling channel via said first laser cannon.
A laser transmitter apparatus comprising a computer co-processor coupled to a computer-readable memory unit, said memory unit comprising instructions that when executed by the computer processor implements a fiber optic encryption method comprising:
- transmitting to a laser receiver apparatus, by said computer co-processor via a first laser cannon of said laser transmitter apparatus, an initial security key over an out of band (OOB) signaling channel of said laser transmitter apparatus;
- securing, by said computer co-processor based on said initial security key, said OOB signaling channel resulting in a secure OOB signaling channel enabled by said first laser cannon;
- generating, by said computer co-processor based on said secure OOB signaling channel, a secure bundle comprising said secure OOB signaling channel enabled by said first laser cannon and a group of channels and associated transmission frequencies enabled by a second laser cannon of said laser transmitter apparatus, wherein said first laser cannon differs from said second laser cannon;
- transmitting, by said computer co-processor via said first laser cannon and said second laser cannon, data via said secure bundle;
A computer program product, comprising a computer readable hardware storage device storing a computer readable program code, said computer readable program code comprising an algorithm that when executed by a computer co-processor of a laser transmitter apparatus implements a fiber optic encryption method, said method comprising:
- transmitting to a laser receiver apparatus, by said computer co-processor via a first laser cannon of said laser transmitter apparatus, an initial security key over an out of band (OOB) signaling channel of said laser transmitter apparatus;
- securing, by said computer co-processor based on said initial security key, said OOB signaling channel resulting in a secure OOB signaling channel enabled by said first laser cannon;
- generating, by said computer co-processor based on said secure OOB signaling channel, a secure bundle comprising said secure OOB signaling channel enabled by said first laser cannon and a group of channels and associated transmission frequencies enabled by a second laser cannon of said laser transmitter apparatus, wherein said first laser cannon differs from said second laser cannon;
- transmitting, by said computer co-processor via said first laser cannon and said second laser cannon, data via said secure bundle;
