Methods and apparatus related to georeferenced pose of 3D models

A process comprising

• receiving a three-dimensional model, relative to a model space, of an object in a real-world space, wherein the three-dimensional model is associated with an image of the object;
• receiving a real-world capture location specified by a user or an image capture device, wherein the real-world capture location is associated with a real-world location from which the image was captured;
• determining, with one or more processors and based on characteristics of the image, a model-space capture location, wherein the model-space capture location is associated with the location from which the image was captured relative to the model space;
• determining, with the one or more processors, an alignment of the model-space capture location and the real-world capture location;
• determining, with the one or more processors and based on the alignment of the model-space capture location and the real-world capture location, one or more of a scale, location or orientation of the three-dimensional model relative to a real-world ground surface;
• and
• providing the three-dimensional model for display relative to the ground surface.

A system comprising

• one or more processors, and
• memory storing instructions executable by the one or more processors,
• wherein the instructions comprise:
• receiving a three-dimensional model, relative to a model space, of an object in a real-world space, wherein the three-dimensional model is associated with an image of the object;
• receiving a real-world capture location specified by a user or an image capture device, wherein the real-world capture location is associated with a real-world location from which the image was captured;
• determining and based on characteristics of the image, a model-space capture location, wherein the model-space capture location is associated with the location from which the image was captured relative to the model space;
• determining an alignment of the model-space capture location and the real-world capture location;
• determining based on the alignment of the model-space capture location and the real-world capture location, one or more of a scale, location or orientation of the three-dimensional model relative to a real-world ground surface;
• and
• providing the three-dimensional model for display relative to the ground surface.
