Abstract
An apparatus for mitigating noise in a printer can include a plate having a plurality of holes distributed across the plate and extending through the plate. A portion of the plurality of holes can be dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across a given frequency band and another portion of the plurality of holes can be dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across another frequency band in a media path of a printer. The apparatus further can include an acoustic baffling material to cover the plate and that can be configured to dampen the acoustic noise across the given frequency band and the other frequency band.
Claims19
An apparatus comprising:
- a first plate having a plurality of holes distributed across the plate and extending through the plate, wherein a portion of the plurality of holes are dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across a given frequency band and another portion of the plurality of holes are dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across an other frequency band in a media path of a printer;
- a second plate having a plurality of holes distributed across the second plate and extending through the second plate, wherein the first and second plates are on opposite sides of the media path to allow media to pass between the first and second plates;
- and
- an acoustic baffling material covering the first plate and the second plate and configured to dampen the acoustic noise across the given frequency band and the other frequency band.
An apparatus comprising:
- a first plate having a plurality of holes distributed across the first plate and extending through the first plate, wherein the plurality of holes of the first plate are dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across a given frequency band in a media path of a printer;
- a second plate having a plurality of holes distributed across the second plate and extending through the second plate, wherein the plurality of holes of the second plate are dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across an other frequency band in the media path of the printer, wherein the first and second plates are on opposite sides of the media path to allow media to pass between the first and second plates;
- and
- an acoustic baffling material covering the first plate and the second plate and configured to dampen the acoustic noise across the given frequency band and the other frequency band.
An apparatus comprising:
- a first plate having a plurality of holes distributed across the plate and extending through the plate, wherein a portion of the plurality of holes are dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across a given frequency band and another portion of the plurality of holes is dimensioned and configured to absorb acoustic noise across an other frequency band in a printer;
- a second plate having a plurality of holes distributed across the second plate and extending through the second plate, the first and second plates being on opposite sides of a media path to allow media to pass between the first and second plates;
- a mesh material covering the plurality of holes, the mesh material to increase air flow resistance through the plurality of holes and further to absorb the acoustic noise in the printer;
- and
- an acoustic baffling material to dampen the acoustic noise across the given frequency band and the other frequency band received from the plurality of holes, the acoustic baffling material extending along a surface of the plate that is opposite a media passage surface of the plate along which media engages as the media passes through the printer.
