Abstract
Extraction devices, methods, and systems are disclosed. Example devices have a solvent chamber, a plant material chamber, a collection chamber, and a solvent return that create an active, passive, or combination extraction and/or solvent purification process. Any extractable plant material can be used in the disclosed devices, methods, and systems although in some examples some form of the cannabis plant is used.
Claims18
A method, comprising:
- releasing fluid solvent stored in a solvent chamber into a plant material chamber along a first fluid pathway extending between the solvent chamber and the plant material chamber, wherein the releasing of the fluid solvent stored in the solvent chamber is controlled by a controllable flow control element;
- exposing plant material stored in the plant material chamber to the released solvent;
- causing the exposed plant material to create a solvent-extract solution;
- releasing the solvent-extract solution from the plant material chamber into a collection chamber along a second fluid pathway extending between the plant material chamber and the collection chamber;
- collecting the solvent-extract solution in the collection chamber;
- causing the solvent-extract solution to release gaseous solvent;
- releasing the gaseous solvent into a solvent return pathway that includes a solvent return directly connected between at least one of:
- (i) the first fluid pathway extending between the solvent chamber and the plant material chamber and the solvent chamber, (ii) the plant material chamber and the solvent chamber, or (iii) the second fluid pathway extending between the plant material chamber and the collection chamber and the solvent chamber;
- and
- selectively controlling fluid flow through the solvent return pathway via a controllable fluid flow control element positioned in-line with the solvent return.
