Abstract
A geopolymer composite binder is provided herein, the composite binder including (i) at least one fly ash material having less than or equal to 15 wt % of calcium oxide; (ii) at least one gelation enhancer; and (iii) at least one hardening enhancer having a different composition from a composition of the at least one fly ash material.

A geopolymer concrete mix composition, comprising:
- a dry binder mixture including
- a fly ash material in an amount of about 15 wt % to about 90 wt % of the dry binder mixture;
- a gelation enhancer in an amount of about 5 wt % to about 80 wt % of the dry binder mixture;
- and
- a hardening enhancer in an amount of about 5 wt % to about 80 wt % of the dry binder mixture;
- a liquid alkaline activator solution;
- a fine aggregate;
- and
- a coarse aggregate, and
- wherein the geopolymer concrete mixture has a setting time of longer than 1-hour.

A method of forming a geopolymer concrete, comprising:
- mixing a dry binder mixture, a liquid alkaline activator solution, a fine aggregate, and a coarse aggregate to form a geopolymer concrete mix composition;
- setting the geopolymer concrete mix composition at a temperature of 20° C. to 75° C. for longer than 60 minutes to form a set geopolymer concrete mixture;
- and
- curing the set geopolymer concrete at a temperature of 20° C. to 75° C. for at least 24 hours,
- wherein the dry binder mixture includes
- a fly ash material in an amount of about 15 wt % to about 90 wt % of the dry mixture, the fly ash material comprising less than or equal to 15 wt % of calcium oxide;
- a gelation enhancer in an amount of about 5 wt % to about 80 wt % of the dry mixture;
- and
- a hardening enhancer in an amount of about 5 wt % to about 80 wt % of the dry mixture, the hardening enhancer having a composition different from a composition of the fly ash material.
