Wireless receiver

A method comprising:

• processing, by a user equipment (UE), control information in a first time slot of a transmission time interval (TTI) having a plurality of time slots;
• in response to the control information including valid resource assignment information for the UE, receiving, by the UE, data in the first time slot and another time slot of the TTI;
• and
• in response to the control information not including valid resource assignment information for the UE, discontinuing, by the UE, reception in the TTI.

A base station comprising:

• a transmitter configured to transmit control information in a first time slot of a transmission time interval (TTI) having a plurality of time slots;
• the transmitter further configured in response to the control information including resource assignment information for a user equipment (UE) to transmit data in the first time slot and another time slot of the TTI in the assigned resources indicated by the resource assignment information;
• and
• the transmitter further configured in response to not sending the control information to the UE in the first time slot, to discontinue transmission of data to the UE for at least the TTI.
