Abstract
A cleat having an adjustable anchoring system configured to suspend a bumper. The cleat has a first horn located opposite a second horn. A support structure is connected to the cleat. A recess of the support structure has a ridge protruding from a wall surface of the recess. The ridge is configured to deform a portion of rope. A bore of the support structure is configured to receive a fastener. A base has a bore configured to receive the fastener. The bore of the support structure is oriented to align with the bore of the base. The base has two ramps that protrude from a wall surface of a recess of the base. The two ramps form a pocket that can have a protrusion configured to bind a portion of the rope when the fastener is tightened.
Claims24
A cleat, comprising:
- a first horn located opposite a second horn;
- at least one support structure connected to said cleat, said at least one support structure having at least one recess, whereby, at least one protrusion protrudes from a wall surface of said at least one recess of said at least one support structure, said at least one protrusion is configured to deform a portion of a length of material;
- said at least one support structure having a bore, said bore of said at least one support structure is configured to receive a fastener;
- and,
- a base having a bore configured to receive said fastener, whereby, said bore of said at least one support structure is oriented to align with said bore of said base, said base having at least one recess, said base having at least two ramps protruding from a wall surface of said at least one recess of said base, whereby, said at least two ramps are oriented to form a pocket.
A cleat, comprising:
- a first horn located opposite a second horn;
- at least one support structure connected to said cleat, said at least one support structure having at least one recess, at least two ramps protruding from a wall surface of said at least one recess of said at least one support structure, whereby, said at least two ramps are oriented to form a pocket;
- said at least one support structure having a bore, said bore of said at least one support structure is configured to receive a fastener;
- and,
- a base having a bore configured to receive said fastener, whereby, said bore of said at least one support structure is oriented to align with said bore of said base, whereby, at least one protrusion protrudes from a wall surface of said at least one recess of said base, said at least one protrusion is configured to deform a portion of a length of material.
A method of a bumper being suspended by a cleat anchoring system, comprising the steps of:
- providing at least one bumper, said at least one bumper associated with at least one opening configured to support said at least one bumper;
- providing a length of material;
- providing at least one cleat comprising, a first horn located opposite a second horn, and at least one support structure, said at least one support structure of said at least one cleat is associated with a recess, whereby, said recess is configured to grip a portion of said length of material when said at least one support structure of said at least one cleat is fastened to an anchoring surface by a fastener;
- placing said portion of said length of material between said recess of at least one support structure of said at least one cleat and said anchoring surface;
- fastening said at least one support structure of said at least one cleat to said anchoring surface by said fastener;
- and,
- placing said length of material through said at least one opening associated with said at least one bumper.
