Abstract
Disclosed are nutritional compositions including human milk oligosaccharides in combination with long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and/or carotenoids that can be administered to preterm infants, term infants, toddlers, and children for reducing inflammation and the incidence of inflammatory diseases.

A synthetic pediatric formula comprising a human milk oligosaccharide and from about 0.025 mg/mL to about 0.130 mg/mL of a long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid.
A synthetic pediatric formula comprising a human milk oligosaccharide and from about 0.001 μg/mL to about 10 μg/mL of a carotenoid.
A method of reducing inflammation in an infant, toddler, or child in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the infant, child or toddler a composition comprising a human milk oligosaccharide, from about 0.025 mg/mL to about 0.130 mg/mL of a long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid oligosaccharide and from about 0.001 μg/mL to about 10 μg/mL of a carotenoid.
