Medicinal treatment of dermal infectious disorders with norketotifen

A method of treating skin infections in a human patient suffering from a skin infection, consisting of topically administering a topical formulation to skin of a human patient that is infected with a bacterium or a fungus, wherein the topical formulation consists of a therapeutically effective amount of RS-norketotifen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient,

• wherein the topically applied RS-norketotifen or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof inhibits the growth of the bacterium or fungus, and
• wherein the RS-norketotifen or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is the only active antimicrobial agent in the topical formulation.
