Abstract
An inbred corn line, designated 103B159, the plants and seeds of the inbred corn line 103B159, methods for producing a corn plant, either inbred or hybrid, produced by crossing the inbred corn line 103B159 with itself or with another corn plant, and hybrid corn seeds and plants produced by crossing the inbred line 103B159 with another corn line or plant and to methods for producing a corn plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic corn plants produced by that method. This invention also relates to inbred corn lines derived from inbred corn line 103B159, to methods for producing other inbred corn lines derived from inbred corn line 103B159 and to the inbred corn lines derived by the use of those methods.
Claims25
Seed of corn inbred line designated 103B159, or a part thereof, representative seed of the line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121839.
A method for producing a corn plant, comprising:
- (a) crossing inbred corn plant 103B159, representative seed of the line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121839, with another different corn plant to yield progeny corn seed.
A method of introducing a desired trait into corn inbred line 103B159, representative seed of the line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121839, comprising:
- (a) crossing 103B159 plants with plants of another corn line that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait;
- (c) crossing selected progeny plants with 103B159 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of corn inbred line 103B159;
- and
- (e) performing steps (c) and (d) at least three or more times in succession to produce the selected fourth and higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of corn inbred line 103B159 listed in Table 1 as determined at the 5% significance level when grown in the same environmental conditions.
