Abstract
A method and apparatus for transmitting an indication for a device-to-device (D2D) operation in a wireless communication system is provided. A user equipment (UE) transmits an indication indicating that the UE is interested to perform a D2D operation. The D2D operation may include reception/transmission of a D2D discovery signal/D2D communication data.

A method for transmitting, by a user equipment (UE), an indication for a device-to-device (D2D) operation in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- transmitting, by the UE, an indication indicating that the UE is interested to perform the D2D operation to a network;
- receiving, by the UE, D2D radio resources, which are allocated based on the indication, from the network;
- and
- performing, by the UE, the D2D operation by using the D2D radio resources.

A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:
- a radio frequency (RF) unit configured to transmit or receive a radio signal;
- and
- a processor coupled to the RF unit, and configured to:
- control the RF unit to transmit an indication indicating that the UE is interested to perform a device-to-device (D2D) operation to a network,
- control the RF unit to receive D2D radio resources, which are allocated based on the indication, from the network;
- and
- control the RF unit to perform the D2D operation by using the D2D radio resources.
