Wireless power and wireless communication integrated circuit

An integrated circuit (IC) comprises:

• a wireless power receive circuit, which includes a rectifying circuit and a buck-boost converter, configured to:
• receive a wireless power electromagnetic signal from a wireless power transmitter for wireless power transfer for charging a battery;
• and
• generate a supply voltage from the wireless power electromagnetic signal for a plurality of circuit modules, including using the rectifying circuit to generate a rectified voltage based on the wireless power electromagnetic signal and using the buck-boost converter to step down or step up the rectified voltage to generate the supply voltage based on a buck-boost control signal;
• a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with the wireless power transmitter over a control channel wireless power data relating to a performance level of the wireless power transfer for charging the battery;
• and
• a processing module configured to:
• monitor the charging of the battery, the wireless power transfer, and charge level of the battery;
• compare the charging of the battery with a charging requirement;
• compare the supply voltage to a reference voltage;
• generate, based on comparison of the supply voltage to the reference voltage, the buck-boost control signal to direct operation of the buck-boost converter to step down or step up the rectified voltage to generate the supply voltage;
• and
• generate, when total power needs of the plurality of circuit modules exceeds available power from the wireless power receive circuit and when the charging of the battery compares unfavorably to a desired charge level, the wireless power data to include first information including operation of the buck-boost converter for use by the wireless power transmitter to determine at least one adjustment parameter and to adjust the wireless power electromagnetic signal based on the at least one adjustment parameter to modify the wireless power transfer to the wireless power receive circuit;
• circuit, wherein the at least one adjustment parameter is based on one of equal sharing of available power, prioritized sharing of the available power, and power needs of the plurality of circuit modules.

An integrated circuit (IC) comprises:

• a wireless power receive circuit, which includes a wireless power receive coil section, a rectifying circuit, and a buck-boost converter, configured to:
• receive a wireless power electromagnetic signal from a wireless power transmitter for wireless power transfer;
• and
• generate a supply voltage from the wireless power electromagnetic signal for a plurality of circuit modules and a battery recharger, including using the rectifying circuit to generate a rectified voltage based on the wireless power electromagnetic signal and using the buck-boost converter to step down or step up the rectified voltage to generate the supply voltage based on a buck-boost control signal;
• a processing module configured to:
• convert inter-chip outbound data into an inter-chip outbound symbol stream;
• convert an inter-chip inbound symbol stream into inter-chip inbound data;
• monitor a performance level of the battery recharger;
• compare the performance level of the battery recharger with a performance requirement;
• compare the supply voltage to a reference voltage;
• generate, based on comparison of the supply voltage to the reference voltage, the buck-boost control signal to direct operation of the buck-boost converter to step down or step up the rectified voltage to generate the supply voltage;
• generate, when total power needs of the plurality of circuit modules exceeds available power from the wireless power receive circuit and when the performance level of the battery recharger compares unfavorably with the performance requirement, wireless power data relating to the performance level of the wireless power transfer to include first information including operation of the buck-boost converter for use by the wireless power transmitter to determine at least one adjustment parameter that specifies at least one of a frequency to use for the wireless power transfer, a power level to use for the wireless power transfer, or a request to reposition the wireless power transmitter to improve magnetic coupling to the IC and to adjust the wireless power electromagnetic signal based on the at least one adjustment parameter to modify the wireless power transfer to the wireless power receive circuit, wherein the at least one adjustment parameter is based on one of equal sharing of available power, prioritized sharing of the available power, and power needs of the plurality of circuit modules;
• and
• generate, when the performance level of the battery recharger compares favorably with the performance requirement, the wireless power data relating to the performance level of the wireless power transfer to include second information including operation of the buck-boost converter for use by the wireless power transmitter to determine to continue the wireless power transfer to the wireless power receive circuit based on the wireless power electromagnetic signal;
• and
• a wireless transceiver configured to communicate the wireless power data relating to the performance level of the battery recharger to the wireless power transmitter.
