Energy radiation generator with bi-polar voltage ladder

A radiation generator comprising:

• a generator housing;
• a target carried by said generator housing;
• a charged particle source carried by said generator housing to direct charged particles at said target;
• and
• at least one voltage source coupled to said charged particle source, said at least one voltage source comprising
• a voltage ladder comprising a plurality of voltage multiplication stages coupled in a bi-polar configuration, each multiplication stage comprising at least one semiconductor diode,
• at least one loading coil coupled at at least one intermediate position along said voltage ladder,
• an operating frequency, and
• a voltage efficiency,
• wherein said operating frequency is configured to regulate said voltage efficiency to a value between eighty seven percent and one hundred and six percent.

A method for making a radiation generator comprising:

• positioning a target and a charged particle source in a generator housing so that the charged particle source directs charged particles at the target;
• and
• coupling at least one voltage source to the charged particle source, the at least one voltage source comprising
• a voltage ladder comprising a plurality of voltage multiplication stages coupled in a bi-polar configuration, each multiplication stage comprising at least one semiconductor diode,
• at least one loading coil coupled at at least one intermediate position along the voltage ladder,
• an operating frequency, and
• a voltage efficiency,
• wherein said operating frequency is configured to regulate said voltage efficiency to a value between eighty seven percent and one hundred and six percent.
