Real time evaluation and coaching system

A machine comprising:

• a propulsion system for moving the machine;
• a first linkage member;
• a work implement operatively connected to the first linkage member for performing a machine operation, the machine operation including a first quantitatively measurable task and a second quantitatively measurable task;
• a first sensor operative to determine a first operating characteristic of the first linkage member;
• a second sensor operative to determine a second operating characteristic of the work implement;
• and
• a controller which:
• stores a first threshold for the first quantitatively measurable task;
• stores a second threshold for the second quantitatively measurable task, the second quantitatively measurable task being sequential to the first quantitatively measurable task;
• determines the first operating characteristic of the first linkage member;
• compares the first operating characteristic to the first threshold;
• generates and displays a first rating for the first quantitatively measurable task based upon the first operating characteristic and the first threshold;
• determines the second operating characteristic of the work implement;
• compares the second operating characteristic to the second threshold;
• and
• generates and displays a second rating for the second quantitatively measurable task based upon the second operating characteristic and the second threshold.
